ChatGPT account linking
Link only what you choose.
Riffly's anonymous original-riff flow does not require a Riffly account. Account linking is a separate experience for coaching and takes that belong to your Riffly profile.
When linking is available, ChatGPT sends you through Riffly's sign-in and permission flow. ChatGPT receives a limited connection for the permissions you approve, never your Riffly password. Linking by itself does not turn on personal audio or model improvement.
The linked-account release is independently gated. Its read-only mode can retrieve an existing account-owned coaching result without opening recording or upload. Linked-account audio remains unavailable until its separate approval and retention evidence pass.
Permissions, in plain language

- Lets ChatGPT retrieve the coaching result and practice details you ask for from your linked Riffly account. It cannot create a take, upload audio, change billing, or read another person's sessions.
- Submit a take you choose riffly.takes.write
- Lets ChatGPT send a short guitar take you attach, choose, or record and deliberately ask Riffly to analyse. This permission stays unavailable until linked-account recording and upload pass their separate retention and release gate. When available, it is paired with the read permission so the finished coaching can return to you.
Riffly asks only for the permission a tool needs. You can decline linking and keep using the anonymous original-riff flow.
What the connection can share
For a coaching read, Riffly checks the signed-in profile and returns only the account-owned coaching facts needed for the result you requested. It does not return your password, billing details, or another person's sessions.
For a take submission, Riffly receives only the audio you attach, choose, or record and deliberately ask Riffly to analyse, plus the technical request details needed to protect and complete that take. Opening the recorder does not upload anything.
Audio, retention, and deletion
Personal recording and upload do not switch on merely because you link an account. They require the separate take permission and must be available in the Riffly app you are using.
Current linked-account mode is read-only: it can retrieve an existing account-owned result but cannot accept a new recording or upload. Riffly will publish the exact linked-account audio retention and deletion timeline here before requesting the take permission.
For anonymous ChatGPT takes, raw audio is removed when analysis completes or fails, abandoned raw audio is removed within 24 hours, and the derived draft tab and practice result are removed within 30 days. Delete this take removes the remaining take and result immediately.
A linked-account session may remain in your Riffly practice history so its result can reload. Disconnecting ChatGPT does not delete Riffly records. Use the privacy request form to request account or data deletion.
Model improvement is separate
Linking Riffly, reading coaching, or approving a take submission is not by itself permission to use that data for model improvement. Anonymous ChatGPT takes are not eligible for model improvement in the current release, and no anonymous training-consent path is active.
Riffly's broader account model-improvement setting has its own policy and data gate. If that program is activated for a policy-eligible adult account after the required assessment and notice, model improvement may be on by default. You can turn it off without losing scoring, saved practice history, or paid features.
Disconnect or ask for help
- Disconnect
- Remove Riffly from your ChatGPT app settings. This stops future ChatGPT access through that connection. You can reconnect later and approve the permissions again.
- Delete or exercise a privacy right
- Disconnecting does not itself delete your Riffly account or records. Use the privacy request form for access, correction, deletion, restriction, or objection.
